Advertising on cars?

I have just been reading about companies you can sign up with to have advertising wraps placed on your car... seems very interesting, and i have just signed up with one such company...

I was wondering if anyone else has done the same, and if anyone has actually got any advertising with these companies?

I think it looks like a great way to make some extra money and I really hope they contact me soon :)

Most threads posting about advertising wraps haven't been promising. People sign up but it never goes further. If I were a wrap company/advertiser I'd want my advert on a taxi/bus/van/lorry which is in use nearly 24/7 rather than on a private motor which does x miles per annum.

This. Can't see the market for it on private cars. Company motorway slags maybe if doing something other than the usual taxi/bus/etc you mentioned.

I do over 1000 miles a month, so I am kind of hoping that I would be one of the lucky few!

When I filled out the form I think I am the type of driver they are looking for so fingers crossed anyway...

I signed up for this around 5 years ago and never heard anything at all.

I read a thread on here some time ago about people who use those magnetic signs you can put on cars. They *sell* a door to a company, will see if I can find it...

Look around you, how many wrapped cars do you see on a daily basis? I see very few. Local takeaways and a few estate agents, that's it. Does this tell you something about these schemes? 1,000 a month probably isn't a high enough mileage for them to be interested.

Years ago my friends's sister responded to an ad in the paper looking for Mini owners.

The deal was that she drove around with their advert on her car for a year and they paid the tax and insurance. At the end of the year they would repaint the car any colour she liked.

When she picked it up, it was white with 'Durex' signwritten on the doors and bootlid along with some advertising slogan. I can't remember the exact wording but it was something to do with small family cars.

Bearing in mind this was over 30 years ago, she was too embarrassed to take it home and had to park it in the next street. It was a long year!

LOL at the durex add :-P

The one I signed up for said you could turn down an add if you didnt feel comfortable advertising a particular product/company..

Oh and sorry I do well over 1000 a month, not sure why I wrote that! I generally do about 25,000+ miles per year..

Doesnt seem like I should hold my breath waiting on this company to contact me but who knows...

Did you get a price in how much you get per ad? I don't do more than a few hundred miles a month so I would be pointless for it, but it's interesting for people who do high miles and could benefit from extra cash

No-one knows how much you get. If you google the wrap ads it seems to be a very US centric business model. There are UK sites with very little information and if you register no-one ever gets back to you. I think I drive around 40k per year and I've certainly never seen any wrapped cars except for the usual Red Bull/Estate Agents/Advertising Agents cars.
