Barclaycard Problem

in Credit cards
In October of 2008 I telephoned Barclaycard customer services to advise them that I would be travelling abroad as part of the security arrangements I had with them.
I also advised them that I would be paying off my account at my next statement date and that as I would be travelling around that i did not want a new card issued when my existing one expired but I would reapply when I returned. This was reconfirmed the following month when this account a Visa platinum was cleared.
In March of 2009 while on line I was met with a message that I should contact Barclaycard and access to my accounts had been withdrawn. I telephoned their customer services but was not allowed any further information as I did not know the new card number. Fortunately I had another route into Barclaycard and discovered that despite my arrangements a new card was issued
in the January almost 4 weeks before my existing card was due to expire. I emailed and wrote to Barclaycard spoke to a manager then did not hear anything more until I received a letter from a debt collection company. After many calls etc the case I thought all was resolved and particularly with the excellent help of a customer service case manager. I received compensation from Barclaycard. I then discovered that in the intervening time the case had been passed on to another debt agency. I copied the correspondence to them and eventually had to warn them off due to harrassment. I wrote again to Barclays asking why I was still being hounded for money on an account that was not mine had not been authorised
and one where they could not even evidence usage. I subsequently wrote to them again wishing all accounts with them closed - I had a mastercard account with them which had been 28 pence
in credit since 2008. I also made it clear that I would not entertain any dealings with any party other than Barclaycard as the mistake was theirs. I received a letter in December 2010 and again in January this year stating that they were still looking into the situation and that I would be written to. Again not a word until I find out that my credit rating has been marked as 'delinquent' by Barclaycard.
How can I get this removed I have made a complaint/disputed entry. Further to this I have discovered through sources within Barclaycard that there had been problems with their call centre operation (Off shore problem) and that details including correspondence and account details had been mislaid affecting many customers accounts.

We haven't heard Barclaycard's side of the story but it sounds as if you should be planning what to do with the compensation that you will eventually receive from them.
Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

Really I would just like this problem resolved not worried about compo. I worked in the Banking Industry for more than 25 years so know what can happen when mistakes are made. The annoying thing is there might be others less aware and more disturbed by similar problems.0

It just takes someone at Barclaycard to take ownership of this problem and sort things out. I suspect that their attitude is that they can just sit back and wait for you to give up the struggle. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

Three words that will make them get a move on - Financial Services Ombudsman. You've made a complaint regarding the situation, all they've really done is send you a 'holding letter', as soon as it gets over the 8 week mark the FSO can look into the complaint for you as the bank are deemed to have had enough time to have dealt with the complaint.
Try contacting Barclays one more time, state that you want a comprehensive reply within 7 working days or it's off to the FSO.0 -
robert.diamond@barclaysplc.com Email him directly. You get put through to the Directors office complaints team - you will be surprised how quickly someone who is allowed to use discretion and apply common sense will get this sorted out!0
