Underbed vac pac help

Has anybody used these "vac pac" underbed storage things? You put clothes/sheets/etc in, seal the flaps together and then vacuum the air out through a hole on top to compress it all.
I can't get mine to work! They're from Tesco. The flaps are all smoothly sealed with no leaks or anything, but when I put my vaccuum cleaner into action nothing happens.
What are people's experiences? Are they just rubbish or is there a trick to it?

Are you putting the hose thing in to the hole in the top far enough for the "valve" to work?C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z # 40 spanner supervisor. No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thought.Only after the last tree has been cut down. You have to insert the hose quite firmly & hold it there whilst it sucks the air out.
I used to love these bags - but couldn't work out why all of mine (under the bed) kept reinflating themselves....... Until one day I happened to catch two of my cats walking very deliberately over the bags, playing silly stalking games with each other. They'd made dozens of tiny claw holes.....0 -
I don't know the tesco ones in particular, but they can sometimes have a little cap which you need to remove or unscrew where you put the vacuum nozzle.0
