Could it really be a tax rebate?????

I got a cheque with my rebate letter but it was only for £115. It was attached to the bottom of the letter.

I wrote in May to the tax office saying I thought I was due a tax rebate. Took them nearly 2 months to reply and they sent me a form to fill in, details of earnings, P60 etc (which surely they already know). I sent it back and weeks later they sent a letter saying I was entitled to a rebate of £135 and that they would be sending a cheque soon!!! The cheque arrived about 2 weeks later. I thought perhaps they were hard up and that's why they delayed sending me the money!!

So no, the cheque is not always necessarily with the letter.

Hi !!!!

So... we phoned the tax office today - and its true my OH is expected to receive a cheque soon for £1250.00!!!!!

PLUS they are checking his tax for the year after to make sure that hes not owed any from there too- i think he left a few months after the tax year started (hes now an electrician).

I cant believe it!!!!! Healways said he thought he was paying far too much tax when he worked there but never thought to even question it!!!

BLIMEY!! and just before christmas... although we wont even think about paying debt off or anything untill we have the cheque in our bank and cashed!!

The very best sort of windfall to get. From the tax man.

Whatever you spend it on, enjoy. Have at least a little treat for yourselves if you plan to use it to pay debt.

although most of it will go towards debt - we have said we're going to treat our parents to something nice this year - they've been so helpfull and understanding and it'll be nice to treat them

i still cant believe it - if this is the time of year tax rebates come about then im sending out lots of good thoughts that you'll all get one too xx
