Best estate car for £2000?

As the title suggests, I am looking into buying a second hand estate car and will have around £2000. I have always bought new/nearly new cars before, but circumstances have changed and I need to be more frugal. Does anyone have any recommendations? Diesel or petrol? We probably do about 150 miles a week. Thank you in advance.
Not as silly as I was thanks to MSE:)

Diesel Mondeo or Focus - "you can always get bits for a Ford !"0

Do you need a full size estate (Mondeo, Avensis, Primera, Passat, Vectra) or will a small one (Golf, Focus, Astra) do?0

With that mileage then petrol is probably best, I imagine you're doing lots of shortish journeys? Diesels generally make sense economically if you're doing longer runs and higher mileages.
Fords are cheap to repair, Japanese cars generally reliable. If you like German cars, then get a Skoda! Don't touch anything French!:A0
