Used Car fault & part ex query
Hi All!
I traded in the wife's small car 3 weeks ago as part exchange against a 2nd hand bigger family car (peugeot 307 est) with a localish independent garage approx 40m from home.
Am really chuffed with the new car however within a few days of purchase I've noticed an intermittent knocking noise from the front drivers side wheel. Have researched the possible fault and its likely the suspension arm/bushes or anti roll set up is warn...apparently not that an expensive job!
Anyway as provided with warranty from garage, checked this before I contacted them and it would appear suspension faults don't appear to be covered. Checked consumer sites such as this & gathered that even though the warranty may not cover the fault...under the sale of goods act I am still within my rights to ask they recitify the problem.
Rang them a number of times at the weekend & seemed to get the brush off however on the first call they did make reference to issues they had with the car I'd part exchanged to them. Apparently the wifes ex car at some point in its life has had a full respray...a point I was completely unaware of!
Have spoken at greater length with them today, they have offered to check over my newer car however have advised it unlikely to be covered by the warranty. I countered that I had looked into and believed that they should consider honouring the repair under the SOGA to which he responded it quite an agressive manner, stating that he didn't need to consider anything given I was completely deceitful & dishonest with the car I traded in!
Incidently the car I did trade in was advertised on their website for 900gbp more than they gave me within 2days of trading in & has appears to have already sold!!!
Sorry for the life story but just need a little advice as kinda in the mind just to get the repair done locally & forget I ever heard of this particular tradesman and put it down to experience!

Well, I'm thinking suspension bushes are consumables and aren't covered by any warranty. At the time of sale they may have been sevicable. Difficult to prove really.
If it's inexpensive I'd just get the work done and forget about the dealer.0 -
How can you tell when a car dealer is lying to you? His lips are moving!I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling0
