Eco 7 Meter & Water Heating

Hi!

We have recently moved and have storage heaters... i know they are rubbish but couldn't not go for the house because of the heating and we are only renting.

I have been told that the hot water boiler is on a seperate circuit which is only switched on when the night rate is activated. Is yours like that too? Does that mean it is on constantly for 7 hours which I cannot change without manually turning the switch on/off in the middle of the night!

Ideally I would like the hot water to come on say an hour or so before the expensive rate kicks in.

For a 1 bed house/2 adults would you think it was cheaper to not have it on all night and only put it on an hour during the day when we need it, ie. after we get in from work.

Please let us know your routines and what you have found is cheaper.

I have had storage heaters before the remember the water tank was on a timer next to the boiler which I could adjust, would that be easy to install?

They aren't "on" for the whole 7 hours. The immersion will heat the water then turn off. It may come on for a few minutes every now and again during the remaining 7 hours but it will make little difference. It's up to you the cost of the timer could outweigh the savings made.
