First time buyer new to utilities

I get the keys to my first house on friday and was wondering if i could get some advice. Is it best to stick with the suppliers the previous owners were with or try somebody totally new. I only worry because i will be moving in on saturday and heard that sometimes suppliers take weeks to change over from one company to the next.

It does take weeks... You need to know your usage figures and you won't know them until you move in start using things so take meter readings and stay with whoever is the the supplier is. Take weekly meter readings then figure out what you use on an annual basis after some time 4 weeks maybe more then compare and switch. If you guessed at an annual usage now you could make an error in your estimates which could cost you more than simply waiting a little while.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

You are in a deemed contract with the existing suppliers from the day you move in. Once you have registered an account with them then you can commence a switch immediately if you wish, it will take 4-5 weeks.
