Paypal reversed a transaction? What a surprise.

Ok, standard chargeback case. Paypal investigated and I received the following email

Please be advised that this payment will be in your PayPal account by
close of business day. You can view your transaction details by
following the steps below.

.... 5 days ago.

Is there any money? Of course not! I've probably spent the £170 I'm owed on the phone to paypal by now. They are investigating ... the person who sent the e-mail was not supposed to send the e-mail as had no authority to make such a promise. Yet it comes from THEIR resolution centre, from THEIR e-mail address ... so shouldn't they honour it?
I have been in contact with the buyer and I have no reason to believe that she's not genuine. In fact one of the e-mails from Paypal to me mentions they spoke to her and she wants to release the funds.

So what's going on? Latest phone call assures me they will "look into it" ... well flip me, surely they have been looking into it for a month now?! ARGH!

Paypal will investigate. Dont worry. If you are right than there is nothing to be concerned as you will be having all the evidences to show to paypal

Just to updae, he money has now been released to me, BUT the "investigation is ongoing" and the dispute in the resolution centre is still open and still being reviewed by Paypal. Does that mean they might take the money away again?

Not if you withdraw it.

I've never heard of them releasing money while the investigation is ongoing. They must be going soft.
