I keep getting Shockwave flash has crashed banner.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling chrome and updating flash player but when I tried to update I got:
Your Google Chrome browser already includes Adobe® Flash® Player built-in. Google Chrome will automatically update when new versions of Flash Player are available.
Anything else I can try please?
Just had google gears has crashed 0.5.33.0, that's a new one.

Check your Google plugins again chrome:/plugins and check to see if you have TWO instances of Flash listed there (you may need to click the '+ Details' bit.) Disable the older one.the one with the lower number Restart Chrome.
or try this
The problem behind the Shockwave Flash crash could be your sound drivers. Follow these steps:
1) Open Device Manager
2) Look for the sound-card device
3) Note down the name for that device
4) Just uninstall the it.
5) After uninstalling restart your machine.
6) Your Windows 7 or Windows Vista would automatically download and reinstall the sound driver. You can also do it manually through approaching the sound card company's web site.0 -
Thank you.
Where do I find the plugins in chrome?0 -
Click the Tools icon in the upper right corner of your Google Chrome window. It is the one that looks like a small wrench. Select Extensions to view a list of all of the extensions you currently have installed in Google Chrome. Click Disable to the right of a plugin if you want to remove it from the toolbar without uninstalling it from Google Chrome. If you disable a plugin and later decide you want it back, simply go back to your list of extensions and select Enable. You may also notice that each plugin has an Options button to the right. If this button is active, click it to select custom settings for that particular extension.
Finally, if you want to know how to remove Google Chrome plugins from your browser completely, simply click the Uninstall button located to the right of the plugin. Click Uninstall again to confirm that you wish to remove the plugin. It will be removed from your list of extensions and from the toolbar immediately

Erm...I might be missing something here. But Adobe Shockwave player and Adobe Flash player aren't the same thing:

http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
Have you tried updating Shockwave player INSTEAD of Flash player?0 -
I might be missing something too, but one of the joys of Chrome is that it keeps everything, including flash, updated automatically. There really shouldn't be any need to check or update anything.
@Annie, Google are aware of the problem http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=0d782f19a7a1a9ec&hl=en
One possible culprit, mentioned there, is Trusteer Rapport. If you have it installed, try switching it off. stop Rapport by:
Windows: going to Start->All Programs->Trusteer Rapport->Stop Rapport.0 -
I have the same problem and I have Trusteer Rapport also.I would not unistall this ,as far as I know this is an online banking security service thats how I installed it anyway.Andrew1472 wrote: »I might be missing something too, but one of the joys of Chrome is that it keeps everything, including flash, updated automatically. I have it too, but it is always switched off for day to day browsing. I switch it on for banking, shopping etc. So far flash has only crashed for me once when I was banking.0 -
It was Trusteer Rapport.
have stopped it, rebooted and chrome works fine now. So at least I know what the problem is but will reinstall it as hubby was almost caught out when logging into his bank....only it wasn't as they asked for all the password details!
Will stick to firefox till chrome get the issue sorted.
Thanks for the help0
