Van Insurance

I have never had insurance in my own name and have just bought a van which I am hoping to insure in my own name.

I have been a named driver on my wife's insurance policy since I passed my test in 2006. I had a single vehicle accident in 2008 (blow out) and a car reversed into me whilst I was stationery in 2009. My wife claimed on her insurance for the accident in 2008 and she claimed on the 3rd parties insurance in 2009.

Searching on line for van insurance, it asks whether I have had any accidents or claims in the last 5 years - this is the bit that is confusing me. I have had 2 accidents but haven't claimed, my wife has. Do I say I haven't had any accidents as these are recorded on my wife's policy (which I am a named driver on) or do I declare them? I haven't got a problem with declaring them just don't want to get penalised twice !

Hope this makes sense

When your wife filled-out the insurance claim forms, did she put your name in the box asking who the driver was?, if so, then you may not have made a claim, but you have been the named-driver on a claim.
This could show-up when any potential insurer does a search.
Why not try a quote with/without the 2 accidents mentioned?. As it is online, you can mess with the info to your hearts content to see what affect it would have on your policy costs.

You need to declare both incidents (pointing out one was a "fault" and the other "no fault")

Alternatively, include the claims because that's what you're supposed to do.
