Good or bad for car insurance?

Never had to put them to the test, but after I was moved from Zurich to RSA last year, did notice the policy perks were watered down somewhat, eg courtesy car period in the event of a theft/loss/write off, and extra £25 if I wanted to tow a trailer - unsure how they would wriggle out of an RTA claim if I failed to spot this though.

Better than some, probably up there in the top 20 I'd say, but way below the best of the best.

Again, you get what you pay for.

I've never had a policy that didn't cover towing, (as far as I know)

The policy summary I have just read includes cover for towing a trailer, but not for the trailer itself.

    I'll have to check that.

    Who did you insure through?

Through the broker where I work....didn't go into too much depth as although I have a towbar, I no longer need to use a trailer...can't lay my hands on my policy at the mo.

Would also confirm it is a RSA product not a More Than one.

If towing trailers is going to be yet another added cost, it's going to catch out an awful lot of people.
I would always assume it was covered, and tbh, it wouldn't have crossed my mind it wasn't. I tow reguarly.
I also hired a large trailer recently, all they wanted to see was my licence to ensure I was legal, we discussed insurance, mainly for theft of the trailer, or if I rolled it at speed on the motorway, I self insured it for theft, but we both assumed my car insurance would cover the motorway carnage if I crashed it.

I've always assumed my insurance would cover the carnage as it relates to third parties but not the damage to the trailer

So have I, that's why Sally A's post is worrying, if there are policies that now only have it as an add on.

I wanted to dig out the whole wording & policy schedule today - but our server has died, will look into it more - it could be just a scheme product agreed by our brokerage and RSA for a rollover deal.

Am curious why you specifically ask if RSA is good private car cover??
