Primus or BT?

I'm in a bit of a quandry. I've had call from BT offering their free evening and weekend calls + 0845/0870 numbers package as I already pay their £13.60 monthly by DD.
In 2008 I signed up to Primus for their
Penny Mobile Option 2
Monthly Tariff - Free
Weekends (local and national) - Free**
Evenings (local and national) - Free**
Daytime (local and national) - 3.0p per min
**Free calls capped to 90 minutes
I think calls to mobiles were capped at 20 minutes for 20p (I think).
To be fair I've only used the mobile phone option twice in that time as I have a mobile contract with inclusive minutes which I rarely use entirely.
The landline is basically kept for the broadband connection.
Should I go with the BT offer? It would be one less company to have to deal with. I can't see the benefits of staying with Primus when I can get 0845/0870 calls with BT.
BT will send me the paperwork within the next couple of days so I have until then decide one way or the other.
Help!

Dial 1280 before numbers at weekends and 0845/0870 are routed via your BT account and FREE as you are on the basic BT package that allows FREE weekend calls to 01/02/03/0845/0870SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

Don't do anything! Yes, you'd gain inclusive weekday evening 0845/0870 calls (as diamonds explains, you already have inclusive weekend 0845/0870 calls) - but so what? How many weekday evening 0845/0870 calls do you make?I've had call from BT offering their free evening and weekend calls + 0845/0870 numbers package as I already pay their £13.60 monthly by DD.

I too am lucky enough to still be on Penny Mobile 2 CPS and use it in conjunction with BT's Call Diversion calling feature to divert incoming calls to my landline to my mobile for 20p a time so that an elderly, dementia-suffering, relative can always get hold of me by dialling my home number* (diverted calls are always routed via your CPS calls provider).
BTW, why are you paying Primus 3p/minute for weekday calls? Using 18185 would mean you could make them for 5p each, regardless of duration.
* I've added her number to my 18185 account and have installed an Orchid for her so that she actually dialls 88 (the Orchid translates that and dials my landline via the appropriate route for the day and time of day).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Thanks guys!
I needed 'other' eyes/brains to look at this for me. Heinz I've only very occasionally used Primus during the day and that was a few years ago. My T-mobile contract phone negates the need for me to use my landline apart from the rare call to my bank which is an 0845 number.
I've been meaning to get one of those Orchid diallers for a few years now. Must pull my finger out so I can make the best use of the various phone accounts I have. Now added to the wish list for 2011 :beer:The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -
I called BT to cancel the new contract a few days lafter posting then, today, decided to check my account online, only to discover they had my old telephone number and a very very old email address as my contact information for the purposes of the contract.
Of course I had to telephone them to update the information. Phew! Was very 'happy' to see that my line rental charges have now increased to £42 quarterly.
Oh joy
