tiscali/talk talk

Last June I rang Talk Talk to cancel my phone/internet with them as they were taking over from Tiscali & I was well out of contract with them.
By October I had had no joy, so cancelled my direct debit....in december Talk Talk re-set up my direct debit & took over £61 out of my account. After a HUGE round of phone calls they promised to sort it as they could see that BT took over my service in October.

*Breathe*!

Having yet no joy, I emailed them at the end of January. They sent me a cheque for £22 & told me that the £61 that had been taken in December had been refunded by my bank the day before it was taken out..:rotfl:A bank giving me money before they had to? I know, it still makes me laugh!
However, Halifax were able to confirm that they had done no such thing. They told me to go into my branch & make a decleration. They refunded me & would then pursue Talk Talk for the money back.
I then got sh*tty emails off Talk Talk saying that if Halifax took the money off them, then they would recharge my inactive account.

Which they did the other week. I have not paid the £61 by the due date & am getting worried about baliffs & such.
I have printed out the whole thread of emails between them & me and they have told fib after fib, it makes no sense!

Has anyone any advice or had this problem? I sent them a letter outlining my consumer/contractual rights but it was rejected because I had not sent it from my home computer!

Much love, Emma

    Hi,

When you cancelled your phone/internet, did you continue to use your internet provided by "Talk Talk"?
Because you say BT took over your service in October.

And...from personal experience with Esure Car Insurance....As soon as you cancel a subscription or something like that where people/companies were direct debitting out of your account, I would recommend writing to your bank and informing them that you no longer have a service with this company and could they cancel the direct debit from your account and remove the company from your "Authorised" list of direct debits. If that makes sense lol!
  • TalkTalk have stressed me badly. December 2010, sent off downloaded form for "change of ownership" Although I paid the bills it was in my daughters name. Two months later, after downloading another "change of ownership" form, both of us filling it in, with MY bank details, the change took place near end of January and not after 28 days as they claim. This meant her A/C number became obsolete and I was given a new A/C number for my name and details for my Debit bank A/c. This was followed up by a letter demanding money for the old A/s of my daughters, now obsolete. I wrote back to the manager of that department explaining their mistake, that I owed no money as they used my Debit A/c every month. A phone call to their Customer department, re-assured me to ignore the demand. A letter arrived from a Debt Collector. Another call to TalkTalk, told me again to ignore it as it was obviously a mistake on their part. That was bad advice, as I have received another letter from the Debt Collectors with an increase of £35.

Two weeks ago, I did as TalkTalk demanded, phoned the police for a Crime Refernce No, so that I could chaange my landline number because of nuisance calls (the police did give me a Crime No but were amazed at TalkTalk saying that it would be the only way they would change my number)To top it all, have just received my usual online bill from TalkTalk and found they had billed me twice. Once for the old landline number and again for my new number on the same bill. They had told me they had deleted the old number but I guess they forgot to pass it on. Making yet another phone call to them, they have admitted their error and should be issuing me with the adjusted online bill.

We know now how to deal with their unwarrented and illegal demands that they have put into the hands of the Debt Collectors. following Martins advice to someone else. For an elderly lady of 79 years, TalkTalk have caused me unbelievable stress. If I could leave them without all the costs they will ply onto me, I would. But then, wouldn't I be liable for more costs to subscribe to another provider? It just goes on and on---

    Hi,

Sorry about your situation, these Companies do not understand the stress of 1 single letter they send out, puts people under.

Most important of all, no more phone calls.
This is how Companies get away with things.
From now on, I would suggest everything is done by email, letter or fax.
I know emails and letters take more time but it's worth it in the end.

I am on AOL and when I was receiving nuisance calls and asked for my number to be changed, they said I would need to contact the Police first before anything would be considered.
After that, I went and did some digging and found that 90% of the dodgy calls was from their telemarketing companies that they had passed my number onto without my permission.

    Hope this helps!:)
