It would seem they are trying to get out of paying you.

I'm not the best to advise you here, hopefully other will be along to assist you.

But here's my take on your situation.

Looks to me as though you are going to need some strongly worded letters and possible help from their regulator to get it back. Hopefully you have copies of the emails still as it will help.

It seems the membership fee is a way of getting around the usual broker fee where they have to give you the money back (sometimes minus £5 admin fee), if you cancel in a certain time and/or they don't find you a loan within a certain amount of time.

EDIT..Just re-read the T&C. 4.2. seems to suggest you have 14 days to cancel in writing to them and the fee will be returned.

i fell for a similar scam in a time of desperation Just persevere include the Financial ombudsman in all communication and don't give up. You should then get your money back

don't understand why people have to insult other people on the site we all make mistakes especially;) when desperate

    Good Luck
  • Just received an email from them and am I right in saying that these guys are not going to refund my money? The email said:

As you have contacted us with regards to Cancellation of your account we feel it is prudent to remind you of the following things.

Since we received your application we have worked hard to find you lenders who can provide the loan you requested. We have uploaded these loan products and lenders to your personal profile for you to review and complete. To view these you will need to log back into your personal profile at ezeloans.net/profile.aspx and complete the details they ask for and then you will be able to receive your credit agreement and loan. If the lenders are not suitable you need to let us know the reasons why so that we can source alternatives for you.

We have provided the services as set out in the terms and conditions. When you completed your application you confirmed you had read, understood and agreed to the terms and conditions. The membership fee was clearly stated on the page into which you input your credit/debit card details and also clearly stated in the terms and conditions:

4.1 A one off joining fee of no more than £74.85 is payable in most cases after you have had an average of 14 days membership and access to the site. If you have not cancelled/terminated your membership with us, you will be automatically charged by a direct charge to the debit/credit card authorised by the member with an ongoing membership fee of £8.89 which is payable monthly until such time as you decide to cancel your membership.

I will cancel your monthly subscription with immediate effect and your on-going membership fee of £8.89 will not be collected. I will leave your personal profile active until the end of your current membership period and then turn it to an inactive status.

    Kind Regards

    Ezeloans.net

I had recently made the same mistake i was actually applying for a payday loan and was redirected to there website so i put my details in and genuinly didnt know i would be charged £74.75 (why would someone pay to have a list of loans sent to you when you can find hundreds in google) here is a copy of the email they sent me after threatining with the ombudsman and watchdog@bbc.co.uk

I have sent the letter today as specified above via recorded delivery so they cant say they never recieved it hopefully i will be reimbursed as they will get the letter tommorrow by 1pm and its only been 5 days and they say i got 14 to cancel. hope this info helps anyone in the same situation. simon
  • I think it's a standard template as I've recieved the same just this morning, although I HAD actually read the terms and conditions they state an AVERAGE of 14 days to cancel (which I read as I had a 14 day cooling off period) so it threw me out when I found they'd taken £67.70 from my account this morning leaving me unable to pay for the family shop this week (I only got re-directed there 9days ago) They have agree'd a refund BUT I have to put it in writing and it will then take 14days from them recieving, which doesn't help me now but is at least a result. More frustrating is I'd managed to work myself into a position where I didn't even need a loan anymore :/ good luck and dont give up, it happens to even the most prepared of us x

The page that asks for your card details contains this:
To access all of the loan offers and benefits included in your membership you will need the username and password displayed above. These will also be sent to you via email and SMS on completion of your application. You will need to have paid your initial one off membership fee to join ezeloans.net benefit scheme. We do not charge a brokerage fee for the service of finding you your loan this is included in your membership.

UPDATE: right after doing some further investigation the address they have given 88 wood street london ec2v 7qt they did use for a while it is a big building with loads of offices, but now has been confirmed from the secretary at this address they are no longer there the no is: 02077262317 they have a list of all buisiness in the building so it looks like anyone trying to cancel the agreement with ezeloans will not be able to do so and they get to keep our money ezeloans are now deliberately giving false information so surely this illegal if anyone has any ideahs how to stop these thiefs from stealing our money please advise i am now going to email watchdog@bbc.co.uk for help if everyone who has had dealings with ezeloans.net do the same we may be able to get them stopped. simon

I nearly fell for them about 2 years back. I got suspicious when I was asked to pay money up front and that was the end for me with them. But that's not the point I try to make.
A friend of mine fell for them about a year back. He cancelled after a day when it was clear that the info given to him was useless and he had already reached out to most of the companies they gave him. I then told him to cancel and to get his money back. The letter was send on day 3 of his membership via RMSD and it was clear from the tracking that mail got collected only once a week.
We then wrote a second letter demanding his money back, giving them a deadline of 14 days and referring to the first letter send and the trace on this. We included all the details we got and also stated clearly THEIR T&C's of getting a refund and told them that a copy of ALL letters and a CD which included ALL emails as well as History Backup of the browser where forwarded to the Financial Ombudsman, the OFT as well as to the local Police for suspected Fraud.
Result was that he got a cheque within 7 days. It did not even bounced but it was posted from Bournemouth!
Do not give up and do whatever you can think of as they tend to make it difficult for you and hope that you will give up. Get in touch with the OFT, they know them but as more complaints they get as sooner they can get them out of business (but I guess they will just pop up under a different name as too many people still pay)
I hope this helped a bit and you get it sorted soon.
REMEMBER Whatever you send the do it at least via Recorded Delivery and keep backups of everything. Involve everyone you can think of. The CAB will be able to help as well!
    Best of luck!
Getting there! Thanks to you guys

just a couple of questions to the OP:
1/what did you/do you want the loan for if you dont mind me asking?
2/when you typed in your details was the site a secure one?
  • Just received an email from them and am I right in saying that these guys are not going to refund my money? The email said:
That email doesn't contain anything that says you're not entitled to your money back. It's just saying "Want your membership money back? But we did stuff! We can cancell the ongoing fee if you like" and to be honest it's not even done it cleverly but it's had the desired effect - you're ready to give up already. You're 100% entitled to your money back, follow the steps above and you should be fine.
