in Cutting tax
Hi everyone
!
I have received a P800 notice which covers 2007/8 to 2009/10
Total amount owing £5600
!
Had previously being informed about £2400 of this (8/9 and 9/10) and had been advised that this would be recovered via 11/12 tax code.
!
Just received a further revised notice including 2007/8 £3200 which relates to tax not paid at higher rate re a redundancy payment.
!
Can anyone advice how negotiable the HMRC are in arranging to repay this?
!
e.g could I propose recovery via a K code over 12/12/36 months
or!maybe pay the £3200 now and the rest via coding during 11/12
!
Main concern is having to pay £5600 in one lump sum in a short space of time and would like to spread this as much as may be possible.
!
alternatively is there much point in trying to claim a concession re the 2007/8 amount as the info provided by ex employer not acted upon and I assumed the redundance payment was appropriately taxed at the time.
!
Any advice most welcome.

If you phone them, they'll arrange for it to be collected over a maximum of three years through your tax code, without any interest charges.0
