I fully understand weight battles both for myself and various friends and family, I really do know how hard it can be, even exercise didnt work for me, just toned me a bit but no actual weight loss, eating less really is the way to go, boring but fact, with the no sweets thing I would suggest you change that to no sugar (including fruit and other naturally occuring sugars) this will make a huge difference to you, try sweetners in tea and coffee etc you'll soon get used to it, again best of luck:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
Had to LOL at this- it sounds cute! Not do-able but cute
I like the simplicity of it but as far as 'NO' of anything goes, unless your able to carry it on for life, the weight will come back on once you stop.
I'd say limited S but not 'NO S'. Snacks for example can be extremely helpful when trying to lose weight being that if you leave it too long between meals, you can become overly hungry and eat way more then you need or had planned. Your eyes become bigger then your belly. I would suggest that you plan in snacks if anything to make it easier to stick to omitting the other two S's.
Ideally you wouldn't leave a gap beyond 3-4 hours between each meal or snack (apart from the gap between dinner and breakfast), but doing the "no S diet" to do this you'd only be able to be awake and eating from say 7am until your last meal at 3pm. If your able to stay not eating until 7am the next morning, more power to you! But if this is the diet for you, good luck, I could never eat just 3 meals a day and nothing inbetween and my weight is in the healthy range.0 -

This diet wouldn't work for me. Because of my working hours I have a 6-7 hour gap between meals. I did once try a diet where you couldn't snack between meals. As you say, I ended up so hungry I would be starving by my mealtime and would end up shoving food down. I also found I got shaky and headachy when I didn't eat this long, especially on days when I was having to do a lot of energetic manual stuff at work.0 -
Thankyou for all your replys so far, Well im on day 1 here and going to give it a bash and see what happens. I do know what you mean about snacks in the book it mentions some reasearch that ppl who snack still eat the same amount at mealtimes as ppl who dont snack thus taking in more calories, I mean im not saying thats correct but jstt stating what it says.
The book says its "normal" to feel hunger before mealtime, and its not so bad having a few hunger pangs ?
I dont know lol, but what i do know is that im fed up of counting calories, points, syns etc and feeling obsessed with writing everything down tracking all the time, now to me thats not normal ?
I will class this as an experiment and see what happens.0 -
To all of those who are concerned they may become hungry between meals, it is simply a case of eating enough and eating the right things to keep you going until your next meal. Clearly if you eat just 300 calories for breakfast and expect to last until lunch you are kidding yourself. Even worse so if you think that a sugary bowl of cereal will do the trick. You must eat foods which are used up by the body slowly such as protein and whole grains.
However it is worth remembering that feeling hungry is not the end of the world. it increases out appetite so we enjoy our next meal more, it means you body is using your fat to provide energy rather than the food you have eaten and it makes us think about the nature of being hungry. What I mean by that is that you question whether you are truly hungry (something many of us never feel) and we start to recognise and even appreciate that feeling. Being hungry is a natural way to feel between meals. Why are we all so scared of it? it is what forced our ancestors to look for food.
Yes, if you become shaky, you should eat, but the next time, make sure you eat more at your meal times.
On the days you are doing plenty of exercise you should eat more to provide that energy. if you are just at work sitting at a desk all day your energy requirements are quite low. you need to get used to the amount of food required to take you from meal to meal depending on what your day holds. if you allow snacks at various intervals you are never allowing your body to reach that point where you are using body fat for energy and you will find it hard to lose weight. Also many of us choose the wrong foods to snack on - Cereal bars or milky coffees are not health foods!
Just the simple fact of eating less will mean you will lose weight. So good luck with your experiment. Hope you can stick to it. Don't be afraid to eat plenty of good foods at your mealtimes though.0 -

I would say the opposite.
Snacks stimulate my appetite so I eat more overall. So does breakfast.
I manage the no snacks at all without any problem. In fact, during the week I only eat once a day.
Everybody is different and the key to maintaining a healthy weight is to find what works for you. You don't necessarily have to eat every ten minutes and drink twenty gallons of water a day to maintain/lose weight... despite what some books tell you.0 -
