motorcycle Insurance cancellation Fee

took out motorcycle ins with swinton last august cost £61. just sold bike and told ins to cancel after 7 months ,, they said there is a £50 cancellation charge and £9 refund therefore i owe £41 more, is this excessive , it seems a bit over the top £50 cancellation charge on a £61 a year ins ,,,
not sure what to do next.. any help ...

Cant say much except read the paperwork that came with the insurance. But my daughter has a similar experience upon changing details. We learnt to go elsewhere and ignore them when renewing.
