Redundancy - is this allowed?

can you help, It is looking like I am being made redundant, and wonder if you can help.
I am under a 12 week PILOT notice.
My job was transfered under TUPE 2 years ago, however, the job is covered by 2 shifts currently which has been covered by just 2 of us.
The Client has apparently advised that they wish to cut the job into just one shift as part of the cuts.
I have done the job for 30 years, the other person has done it for 19 years.
The redundancy is being done on a points system, I have maximum points, however, they have included another person in this redundancy, someone who was also transfered under TUPE but did a different job, he never did my job at all until last year when he covered for illness/holiday etc.
Now I have maximum points and so does the other person who doesn't do our job, but in the event of a tie on the points, the person with the most years gets to keep the job. This other person who until recently didn't do the job, also has maximum points has done 2 years more service than me, so although not been told officially I am led to believe that he will get the job over me.
sorry for rambling, but I am not in a union and just want to know if they can do this as it seems unfair, that my job of 30 years goes to someone who up until recently had never had anything to do with my job, and only filled in to cover?
I am really worried and should be grateful to learn if this is in fact allowed, if it isn't what recourse do I have? who could challenge this?

Last in, first out (which this could amount to) is allowed. However, the company would need to be able to demonstrate that they have used this method in the past.
If it is confirmed that you are one of the 2 selected for redundancy out of the 3 ask for the scores of the assessment. They could be scoring against what the job will be going forwards rather than what it is now, so get them to explain the criteria and what the job will be like going forwards. If it is remaining the same, then ask them to explain how you score less when you currently do the role.
Unfortunately, if you have both genuinely scored the same (and it does happen), then they do have to use some method to determine who is selected for redundancy.Hoping the comping fairy is nice this month and the postman comes.

thanks, the job is to remain the same apart from a change of hours.
the criteria they have applied doesn't take experience or anything to do with the job into account, it is just for attendance, any disciplinary action, any accidents.
I have scored max points (done job for 30 years) 5 points
person A has scored 3 points (done job for 19 years)
person B has scored 5 points (only covered holidays over past 6 months) has a different job.
Person B who has a totally different job description beats me on service by 2 years.
It just doesn't seem right that someone who doesn't do the job (which is quite specialized) can get it over me, when nothing in relation to the job has been taken into account.
I know nobody likes to be made redundant and I accept changes are needed, but I don't feel that the criteria has been applied fairly.bertie200
