British Gas - Home Movers

Hi,
Today I asked myself the question, is it me?
I am a Lettings Manager for a firm in Leicester and dread when a landlord tells me British gas supply their electricity or gas.
We have told BG numerous times for each property of a tenant moving into a property and still they fail to update their records. An example is one that dates back to February 2006 and still they do not hold the correct information.
Any anyone else experience this?
And still they insist ons ending the disconnection notices, Central rEcoveries Letters, etc.

I also work for a lettings agent and no, it's not just you. It's not unknown for us to have to resubmit details of new tenancies several times.
Recently a new error has started happening; we supply the forwarding address for vacated tenants along with the final meter reading, and BG change the address on the bill to our office address. We tell them the correct address again, they say they will update their records and they don't.
But I did laugh when we had a cheque for a refund of overpaid charges made payable to 'The Occupier'. One would think at the very least that there would be a failsafe to prevent cheques being issued in that name.0 -
I'm hijacking this thread a bit... but it's on the same topic.
My parents are struggling with British Gas also. They moved on the 3rd Nov, informed BG who sent out bills with incorrect meter readings to their old address.
Despite checking that they have set up the accounts at their new house (unfortunately for my parents their new house is supplied by BG - and yes, they will be switching as soon as the accounts are all in line); BG have not set out the correct final bill for their old address to the new address. Poor mum has been on the phone to them for up to 45mins. BG say they have the final readings from the old house and that a "bill will be generated and sent out". That was 4 weeks ago.
BG were informed on the 6th Nov, and called for a second time on the 20th to check that BG had the final meter readings my parents supplied on the 6th. My parents were told to ignore the erroneous bill sent to their old address, and told to wait for these (non-existent, it seems) new bills.
Do we wait for the final bill, keep phoning BG and asking them where the final bill for the old property is... or ignore it and wait until they decide to send a bill of sorts?0 -
If you phone less that 28 days after the original call you will be told it's still being processed. After 28 days if it still hasn't gone through they will arrange for the processing teams to investigate why the account isn't closed properly. So you need to wait until 5th December before calling them again.0
