We got a baby bath bought for us by the in laws from a car boot fayre for £1..it's brill. Sits on the top of the bath and saves your back. Tried bathing him at my mums in the big bath, and was in agony by the end of it!

Bumbo - bought one from ebay, he isn't really big enough for it yet, but will be 12 weeks this Friday so hopefully will get some use out of it. If not will just stick it on ebay again.

Cot top changer - got mine for free as Mothercare cocked up our order when we bought our cot. It should have cost something stupid like £70, and there's no way I would have paid that, but again it's been a life saver for my back.

Nappies - agree with those saying don't go too crazy and buy too many in one size. For some reason practically everyone I know bought us packs of newborn nappies, and I ended up giving a load of them away as he jumped from a size 1 to a size 3.

Wipes - always useful, but most supermarkets do good deals on these (BOGOF's etc), so you don't need to stockpile them.

Moses basket - came from my sister, and will be going back to her as she is pregnant again. DS has been sleeping in it since birth, and seems to like it. He is getting a bit big for it now so will probably move into his cot in the next few weeks. If you can borrow a moses basket them all the better as they do outgrow them quickly.

Clothes - yep as everyone has said, don't bother buying them! I have LOADS that DS has never even worn as he has grown out of them. Babygro's are by far the easiest and most comfy for LO's, even though outfits look dead cute, my DS always looks uncomfortable in them!

We also have a Fisher Price rocker chair than vibrates that someone at OH's work gave him. OH insisted on giving her £10 for it, and DS loves it. He naps in it during the day, and it enables us to sit down in the kitchen to have dinner as he falls asleep in it f rocked (he's napping in it now!)

I think if I had my time again I would have gone for a smaller pram. We went for the Bugaboo Chameleon (I know!), and whilst it looks lovely and is very well made etc, it's so darn heavy. I live in a top floor maisonette, and carrying it up and down the stairs is a killer.

Toys - don't bother. As others have said you will be given loads of teddies/soft books etc. Babies don't really pay much attention anyway. As someone else said, they are happiest just having you chatter away to them!
My sister gave me her playmat, which DS is not bothered about. Glad I never bothered buying one of those.

You don't even take him seriously,
How am I going to get to heaven?,
When I'm just balanced so precariously..
