Hanging Kitchen Wall Units

Hi,

Is it possible to hang Kitchen wall units to a platerboard wall. The wall in question is an internal wall with metal studs.

If so what do I need (In terms of fixings) and how do I best go about it?

Many thanks in advance

  • The plasterboard itself will not take the weight and it is not a good idea. Yo can get extra long rails to hang the units on with then you can get screws into the studs. Another way is to reinforce the plasterboard. If you can afford it get a pro in and make sure that pro knows what he is doing.

Id go for placing battens behind the wall units, the battens being screwed into the metal uprights in the wall. Then screw the units to the battens....simples

Goldscrew screws will screw into the metal uprights easy enough, screw straight in without drilling pilot holes and they'll be a good solid fixing.

I see there are metal hanging rails you can get, If I got one of these for hanging would it take the weight If it was screwed in to each of the metal studs?

Or am I better to screw strips of wood to the wall and hang the cabinets from the wood?

Goldscrew screws - Is this a brand or a type of screw I can pick up at B&Q?

As to getting a pro in to do the work, i'm trying to do it on a tight budget, however there is 1x1000mm wall unit, 1x600mm wall unit and 2x600mm bridge cabinets to hang.
Any idea ball park what kind of price a pro would take to hang them?

    Many thanks

I don't need self tapping crews or anything for screwing in to the metal joists?
