    Hi,redbull08
I'm no expert but from what you describe you'll not lose your data.If you get a new pc just put the Hard Drive from your current pc in the new one as a tandem drive to the existing one or get an enclosure for it.
Your email addresses are safe as they are not tied to that PC but either to the ISP or maybe hotmail etc.
I had the same thing & it was the PSU.I found one secondhand & gave the guy a few quid to fix it.

Sorry to here your having problems with your computer Redbull if your computer is 6 years or older it maybe that your CMOS battery is dying

this can be found on the motherboard (the big board in your computer)

if you take the battery out for 5 minutes it will reset your motherboard bios settings to default (which may correct your problems)

see "Hard reset the CMOS" here for how to do this
    http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000976.htm

if you can try to get someone to check the voltage of the battery to see if it needs replacing

also check that all of the cards and memory are seated properly in the motherboard as sometimes after long periods of use they tend to creep out of there slots

check all of the connections on the outside of the computer and pay particular attention to the monitor cables make sure that they are fully tightened and that they are not loose if they are tight undo them and make sure that none of the connection pins are loose or bent

there is also a chance that the power supply in the computer could be failing these can be replaced quite cheaply but I would advise that this be done by someone who has a knowledge of building or repairing computers

    hope this helps

    Best of Luck :)
