Permanant Exclusion from school.

I can tell you what happened in the school where I worked but it was a secondary school.
Sometimes the school would do a deal with the parent/draw up an agreement to retract the permanent exclusion and the local authority would arrange a managed transfer to another school. If this managed transfer fell through then the permanent exclusion would be reinstated. This arrangement happened quite frequently, but more commonly the child was referred to a special unit who would work with the child to try to re-integrate them into a mainstream school once again. There is another kind of home schooling agreement but I can't remember what it is. It may be only available to older children.
All these measures were taken to try to prevent the child having a permanent exclusion on their school record. However, if he does receive one and there is no recourse you can always take it to appeal with the school governors. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
