I make mint tea and lemon balm tea. Pick sprigs , wash under the tap, shove in the teapot along with one weak teabag, and make tea as normal. Lovely!

I dont even bother with the addition of ordinary tea (which I hate actually...). Just use a few lemon balm leaves and Bob is your uncle/Fanny is your aunt:)

You can add a slice of lemon to squeeze and/or a teaspoon of honey if required.

My most common home tea is very simple, a sprig of rosemary, a dash of lemon juice or peel if I have some handy. Its lovely and clean tasting in the morning and is good for bad breath.

I love the sound of cardamon/rosewater tea. I usuualy add cardamon to hot milk for bed time drinks, (makes it feel expensive/exoctic/luxury without adding heaps of calories) and soetimes even add it to porridge. I like mint tea but it can feel a bit samey. I'm going to try these to improve my brew. :)

Hmmm...while we are talking about drinks....

I like throwing some nutmeg into pretty much anything I can find an excuse for...so bought myself a special teeny little nutmeg grater a while back. Its sitting languishing in a kitchen drawer - as I feel a bit nervous of trying to do my own grated nutmeg....errr...I guess there's no "advance preparation" of a nutmeg that I would have to do is there? Just grab my toytown grater and get rubbing? (sorrees to ask an Idiots Guide question re this....:o).

I think a bedtime drink of hot milk, honey, fresh nutmeg and a sprinkling of carob (which is what I use instead of cocoa/drinking chocolate) might be RATHER nice:p:D

:( Well, it's another day of flawless blue sky and strong sunlight and the weather forecast has just said it'll be in the low twenties with a possibility of a couple of showers this afternoon. I can't believe I'm grumbling about hot sunny weather but after 2 months of almost no rain things are absolutely dire.

I'm continuing to save water from the flat if it's not too mucky and spent a jolly time last night baling most of my bathwater into 4 pint milk bottle containers which I'll bike to the lottie after work. It'll ease the pressure on supplies off the standtap up there and as I'm on a water meter, I've paid for the blessed stuff. I'm sure some people up the lotties think I'm bonkers as I could just use the tap but they don't live inside my head with all the waste not values.

:) Hey, it makes me happy, but not as happy as waking up during the night and hearing the hissing of a good rain storm.

:) Had to laugh yesterday when I pulled up my unmentionables and the elastic parted company with the rest (v.v elderly knicks and too knackered to be mendable any further). Now, this is apparently a character test for us ladies; Do you, if you have to junk a pair of drawers, toss them clean or (ahem) used? Mine will be laundered before they go in the bin bag but then, I never claimed to be entirely sane...........:rotfl:Seriously, I once had my rubbish stolen, presumably by someone who thought there might be something of value or perhaps to try ID theft. Whereupon they learned 3 things about me: I shred everything, I buy a lot of things with yellow stickers and that I recycle.

:D Sorry to have lowered the tone. I shall take myself off elsewhere on the interweb for a while, probably into Zero Waste Home.

    Have a good day, y'all.

Just grate it. I've alsways just grated it, and the little graters make it much easier. I actually have too little graters: I already had one, but got a flat one rather than a box one free with some nutmeg at some point.

    Nutmeg IS delicious. :)

It looks like things are going to get tougher, according to the news on the BBC British Gas are warning us of higher energy prices this winter. I struggled to afford to keep us warm this winter so goodness knows what it's going to be like especially if next winter is long again. :(
In the UK, the forward wholesale prices of gas and power for delivery in winter 2011/12 are currently around 25% higher than prices last winter, with end-user prices yet to reflect this higher wholesale market price environment," the statement said
