    Yep...I'll survive....I'm a survivor...shades of some tune or other.

Had a quick google round your music fave - hmmm...well I'll admit to being more oriented towards Clannad and Enya and suchlike on the music front..

Well...could treat that as my laugh for the evening that I checked out YouTube re your artiste and found I was getting up house adverts that included a place for £35 million - yes really....... Errr...why? as I'm more used to seeing "pop up adverts" in the price range I have or am looking at - and thats WAY WAY beneath that level - ie knock a few 0's off....:rotfl:

Dinnae mind me...'tis just a total bout of frustration evening...been a mixed day...I've seen another example play out today of "What goes round comes round" watching other people. It took some years to do so - but it DID come round in the end:cool:. So - that was the "plus" for today - ie maybes I'm not "way off" in thinking that thats how things "work"...coupled with a huge wave of frustration hitting tonight about my own life and the restrictions on it....but must keep calm/chill/..."and breathe"/many of us "have been there...done that"...

I'll persuade myself to "see sense" in a minute if I try hard enough:rotfl:...reet...now really must hie me hence and head for that chillout music...

I've been lurking and reading this thread with interest over the last few weeks, and once again, you've all amazed me with how you all cope.

I've had a bit of a surprise today, as my new work place called to see when I would like to start. I initially said Thursday? and he was VERY surprised, then I said Monday and he was ok with that, but still a bit taken aback. They didn't realise I had given notice on the day I was offered the job and so was ready to start whenever, and thought I would need at least a month. The OH says it makes me look keen, I just feel like an idiot!

So, I'm back to work next Monday, at a not-for-profit unit working with men with learning disabilities, mental health issues and some substance misuse. It'll be a lot different (and hopefully better!) than the last place I worked at, and everyone seems really nice. To celebrate the OH is taking me away for two nights to a place that's really special to both of us as we didn't have the holiday we'd planned due to him working for his business.

Not very OS I realise, so to make up for it we've been eating leftovers for the last few days. Last night tonight though, as I fear the OH is fed up of having cold food. I'm also hoping that now I won't be working 12 hours shifts, I'll be able to be more in control of the cooking in the house, so I don't rely on my mum or the OH as much. I really cannot get my head around the fact that when I start a 7am, I'll be home by 4pm rather than 8.15 in the evening :j. It does mean I'll be working 5 days instead of 3 or 4, but I'm convinced this is better for my mental health and that I'll actually spend more time at home. The travel time is only 35-40 minutes as opposed to the 1hr 10 minutes I was travelling . Should help with the fuel costs too as it's 20 miles closer to home.

    :D T x

I think I may be a little stressed today - waiting for my carers allowance to be re-instated, Dd got a new boss who is nasty, OH going for tests thursday and is being a pain. I read through the posts here and thought Mardatha was frying up her mice, as it came after softstuffs post re the little animals living in her walls:rotfl: So I started again and... it made sense.

Not got much done today, garden is like the Somme only with big weeds and slugs the size of cats. But never give up hope the peas are growing really well - this self sufficiency lark is very annoying - I will win though  I too sprinkled a pack of beetroot seeds and some chard. The chard is showing after 3 days! I cannot even grow courgettes this year, got a cigar sized one from 3 plants so far.

Anyway am off to buy some new clothes tomorrow, very rare occasion as I hate spending money and shopping for me - bet we come back with clothes for DGS and some plastic boxes instead. I would love to wander round in my goth dresses but the full length skirts really do not work with mud and are not at all practical in the kitchen :) How Cathy ran round the moors in her long dresses looking for Heathcliff puzzles me cos they weigh a ton when they get wet at the hem.

    .

That's taking pest control and money saving to a new level! I guess fried mice may still be better than kale to Mardatha though:)

Been looking on the Debenhams website and found this stock pot reduced from £70 to £21 and I think there may be some codes on the discount forum so could probably get it below £20. Ignoring the one and only review as it was damaged, would it be practical or would the enamel chip easily do you think?

No more tomatoes today (I'm very impatient), thanks to all who reassured me about the birds eating them.

I made a batch of twinks hob nobs yesterday but I think I'll have to stop. They are addictive to me, I've had 3 this evening already. The tin will have to go on a high shelf so I can't reach. Oh how I wish I could buy willpower!

Off to water my tomatoes while I remember and inspect my lettuces. I let hubby sow them in a grow bag and I think he has just dropped handfuls of seed in. They will certainly need thinning out at some stage.

v8monkeyboy - well done for pursuing a career working with people with LD, MH and drug issues. Although I'm a finance professional not a nurse or carer I've spent a lot of years working in MH/LD finance with the NHS and the private sector and have always been appalled by how "unglamourous" these areas are seen and how badly they are funded. Believe you me, the lack of funding for older people's care, whilst dreadful, is in no comparison to the lack of funding for LD/MH.

Sorry, rant over, it's a subject I feel strongly about.

    Good luck V8

Maybe I'm missing a trick by trying to get rid, when what I've actually got is a source of free meat.....

No, I'd give up my weekly bottle of 2 quid wine before I'd eat mice, and that's saying something :D

One of my neighbours rotated their (admittedly scruffy) front garden earlier this year, and has been succession planting potatoes in it... They look like they've got a very good crop, despite the rabbit I surprised there on my morning run a couple of weeks ago!

Scottish minnie, enamel should last for ever, and as its good quality even longer :) I have enamel ware thats withstood the elements in my garden after long service indoors and its got barely a mark on it.

Maybe mice kebabs would work? You know 1 mouse, a tomato, bit of onion and repeat - new business idea - Mickey and Minnies kebab shop, always fresh supplies:eek:

right am off to bed to see if I can resume normal service tomorrow hugs to all
