I just wanted to share that my two football crazy, Xbox and Wii loving sons aged 11 and 9 are snuggled up on the couch watching The Wizard of Oz, smiling, laughing and ohh-ing and ahh-ing at all the right bits
The old ones are still the best

Paidinchickens have seen 12 years mentioned maintaining a piece of land to claim it.
Try posting on the DIY or House Buying and Renting Boards, as they will have some good suggestions on there, or can point you in the right direction for finding the correct information

Paidinchickens my PIL had a similar situation with a largish patch of land next to their house that no-one wanted to take responsibility for. It was very overgrown and some of the local feral young had started using it as a drinking / mating patch. the council wouldn't touch it. My FIL traced the owners, as the original developers had long ceased to be and it turned out it was then owned by Zurich insurance, a phone call later, they paid £5 and now own the patch. The funny thing is that they had it landscaped and cleared of all the bushes that had gone wild and suddenly the council started cutting the grass edges again. They've given up telling them to stop and now let them just get on with it:DI was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly

Hi all,
Well we have returned from glencoe and my sarcastic comments about it being "sunny" before we left were indeed a correct assessment:rotfl:who would believe it.
I have tried to catch up on all that i missed and send hugs to all that need some, and will light a candle and send some positive thoughts later tonight when the house is a bit calmer. x
The garden has survived us being away (friends and family were on watering duty but i believe its rained solidly so not much need apart from the bits undercover) and delighted to report some edibles are ready:D. Potatoes are begging to be eaten with a giant dollop of butter and green stuff is crying out to be added to something or other:rotfl:.
Right i'm going to pretend to be domesticated as the house is looking a tad tired and eh dirty.
xMoving towards a life that is more relaxed and kinder to the environment (embracing my inner hippy:D) .:j0 -

I would tell your FIL to write to the Council's legal department and formally inform them that the land is now in his ownership and that he will be dealing with and taking care of all the cutting. If the council can prove they have maintained a piece of land they can lay claim to it and even use the excuse that it becomes part of the adopted highway. Had a similar issue myself but with a ditch. If you need any more info PM me and I can give you a legal letter to be delivered to your local council. In the first instance they need to be stopped = complacency is what these tin pot hitlers in local government work on. They need to understand that they are ONLY and will ever be just local government they are not on a par with direct government!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

I have also been investigating the possiblity of a decent suit, not just something from M and S but a really good one. Evenutally, like it or not, I will have to invest in one so I went to Austin Reed. Jesus!!!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek: Think I will wait for the sales. :rotfl:
I used to work in a job that required me to wear a dinner suit with a skirt and as they weren't available off the peg the company had them made to measure at Austin Reed. They were of appalling quality considering the price and didn't even fit that well at the end of two fittings. It may have been the particular branch but they even got the measurements of two girls mixed up and then tried to say that the one that had been taken in instead of let down didn't fit because the girl had put on weight!
If you are seriously considering spending the sort of money that Ausin Reed charges for off the peg suits then I'd suggest that you have a look around your area for someone to actually make the whole thing for you. A good dressmaker or tailor will do a better job. Doesn't have to be a bespoke suit place (although the prices compared to off the peg 'labels' are suprisingly reasonable) but the sort of person who can do alterations etc. Test the waters if you find somewhere that looks possible by having a waistband altered on a not favourite skirt or something similar so that you can judge the quality of workmanship. Properly trained dressmakers should have some tailoring training, but they often advertise as alterations people because that is where most of the demand is.0 -
Funny you should say that SK. The OH had one made for him (and he is flipping particular) for about £700 so I may investigate the possibility of me having one made, which would be cheaper than his and about the same as Austin Reed. I want one with a skirt too rather than trousers. I certainly dont want to pay that kind of money to have a piece of rubbish, as quite frankly, I just cant afford to get it wrong.0
