Hug and good wishes for you and family member.

Another couple of big storage containers arrived this morning and are now filled with dried peas and red lentils. Cupboard is starting to look better already with fewer packets sprawled about and it seems easier to find what I want now.

I have hoiked a half price beef joint out of the freezer for Sunday lunch with home grown new potatoes , cabbage stir fried with onions, carrots etc. Also took half price pork steaks out to defrost for family members who won't eat beef and some LO lamb lasagne in fridge.

DH has decided off his own bat that he wants to buy a Calor gas style heater - he is thinking of using it in garage while I am thinking how useful it will be if we get power cuts as we have no open fires or stove etc. Might need to buy a couple more hot water bottles and hide them as Dds keep losing them.

  • IOIWE candles and positive thoughts being sent to you.

I have had a lovely Friday evening and Saturday. OH and I have worked our socks off today and we have almost got the veg patches back under control. Everything that was in pots has been planted out, the peas have finally been given netting to climb up and everywhere has been weeded. Im feeling much more positive than this time last week. We've also figured out a way to extend the herb patch: so now I get to choose more herbs. At the moment we've got mint (2 varieties), thyme (2 varieties), marjoram, chives and sage. I've got an echinacea to plant out: but what else shall I add?

Broody hen has finally given up nesting: and I can report that the eggs that she'd been incubating for 8 hours tasted absolutely fine.

I'm still trying to find ways to trim back energy use. I cooked a gammon joint today (plus some twinks to make full use of the oven - OH commented how much he approves of the new regime!) and I experimented with turning the oven off 10 minutes before the end. It seemed to work fine, but I probably wouldn't try it for very short cooking times.

Take care all and hugs to everyone who needs them.

Hiya - I've just lit the lovely smelling mandarin and lemon one that lives on the kitchen windowsill. I'm carrying on tidying and sorting in there tonight (today's gone topsy-turvy) so I, too, shall send you all healing hugs and love.

Ginnyknit I'd probably fall in and never be seen again :rotfl:I've just ordered a grabber off lakeland - it was in the sale and I had a £3 voucher so I thought, 'why not?' It's a folding one, apparently. So I shall be taking it shopping with me. It will save me having to climb up the supermarket shelves (I kid ye not) to reach items from the top.

ETA: LAKELAND SALE HAS LOCK N LOCKS

Search discount codes n vouchers thread for lakeland free postage code over £19.99

I'm quite tall but can't always reach the stuff at the back of the top shelf so I go to the household section and borrow a mop or broom to drag what I need off the shelf.
