Well, I thought as I started the great Waitrose debate I would compare said tin foil cost with Tescos. Waitrose was £3.87 for 20 meters 450 mm wide. Sit down and prepared to be amazed...

Tescos was £4.50!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 63p more.:eek: Which kind of confirms what I was beginning to think about Tescos. I see £ signs in their eyes me thinks.

Thought I'd pop in and say hello. I am trying to catch up with the thread but the Chelsea Flower Show coverage keeps getting in the way. Lol. I've also been back in hospital, I think its my MSE version of a hotel, this time with labrinthitus. I'm not going to turn into a drama queen and make a big fuss about this as well, but it was horrible. Dd tells me she treats people with depression because they suffer long term with it. Big hugs to any long term sufferers. I also managed to sprain my ankle!! I wear vary focals and cant cope with steps lol.

    Anyway Good wishes to all

Hi all.how are you all..gosh i have missed you ladies..i have been very busy and i am now catching up with you all...
Duly noted about eye tests..i promise i will go...
My mum shops at waitrose..and the quality of the food is very good...i got a free delivery code for them plus £10 off my first shop..i have to admit it was lovely..the beef was quality meat..didn't last long though.
Have been busy this wk..done lots of baking and bread making and froze most of it..did some soups too and a couple of shepards pies..all nicely tucked up in the freezer...made some more rhubarb and orange jam..damn that stuff is gorgeous...love it on my toast..even the tots like it so i know its good and not just me.I have been keeping an eye on my cherry tree..seems to have thousands of cherries..they are very small and going red as i type..trouble is they are too small and ripening too quickly..not going to be a good crop this year..plus the wind has blown them all over the garden..birds are enjoying them though..nevermind..i really wanted to make cherry jam and preserve some..will have to wait and see..
I am now the proud owner of a vintage spong bean slicer..yay..99p on fleabay..couldn't believe my luck ..i have lusted(wanted) one of these beauties for years..can't wait to use it..also went to the CS and struck lucky..a complete mincer..with 5 attachments not sure what they all do..but its one of those that you clamp to the kitchen table and force the meat or whatever you want in the hole and it minces, grinds etc..its lovely..solid cast iron so very heavy but 75p..couldn't believe it..had that in my bag really quick..
Well i have been a good girl and sat down and rad a book on how to knit..step by step instructions..guess what..i can cast on,knit, purl and am currently half way through making iris a blanket for her dolly, then i have to learn to cast off lol.The book i am learning from is a Home Handicrafts Needleworks and Repairs, from the Household Reference Library..circa 1940..lovely pictures of how to do it and what it should look like..so am getting through my list of things to learn..
Sammy Happy Birthday to your lad..hope he has a great day
Its raining here..lots of lovely rain..thankfully..
Hugs to everyone that needs them and lots of love to you all.
Off to knit some more..its very addictive.

Popped into Mr T last night for a loaf and deviated to the cold meat aisle. Picked up a pack of Tulip Wafer Thin Smoked Cooked ham for £1.79 (400G). I was sure it was a mistake as it seemed a huge pack for that price however the price was right and I'm delighted to say it provided lunch for hubby and I (one salad and one set of sandwiches), tonights dinner for both (along with a veggie stir fry) and I have just frozen 2/perhaps 3 more sandwich portions.

I'm very pleased with my buy - not often I can stretch something out this far. I'm not in the habit of buying meat in Tesco - I'm a butchers girl only but I have to say it was very tasty.

Casting off's easy. Knit 2 stitches then pass the back one over the front. You will have one stitch on one needle and all the rest on the other. Knit another so you once again have 2 stitches on 1 needle and then pass the back one over the front etc. Until you are left with one stitch. I then make a large loop with that stitch, cut your yarn and pass the end through the loop to make a knot

    Simples!!

I go to waitrose and love it except sometimes it is full of obnoxious rich older ladies who think they own the shop and get in the way. I rarely buy branded products and I had always suspected waitrose were more expensive than other supermarkets but now they have the brand match I do not think they are.

Red_lady I noticed you said you were looking forward to trying the gammon, the free range gammon joints are absolutely wonderful, so delicious. Just make sure you buy a big one as everybody will want extra!

cloned meat is being sneaked into the supermarkets by the end of summer :eek::eek:

This absolutely horrifies me as it will not be labelled as such

I did a Sainsbugs delivery shop for the first time yesterday. I had a £10 off voucher. I keep reading on here that their value range is better than the other supermarkets so ordered a lot of those.

I would like to think my butchers would resist. They tell me that all their meat comes from staffordshire (where i am!) and most within 3 miles. in fact when i bought a leg of lamb recently they told me it had come from "Bloggs" farm. My son is friends with "Bloggs" junior and was feeding a lamb in their kitchen a little while before that!

We really will all have to start eating less meat. All the while people will buy cheap supermarket meat, the demand remains high and is met by such products. I am fortunate enough to not have to buy "cheap" meat but we do have one or two meat free meals a week.
