I throw a good size hand full in then set machine to wash on very hot. I was wondering if something similar would work on the DW but assume it would be way to foamy!!:)

It is fine in the DW - but I just use the soda crystals, not the vinegar.

Just tried to do my Mr S order but most of my usuals are no longer stocked :(

Thanks Charis...you've reminded me time to "cleanse" those tracking cookies - as I am also getting all sortsa ads coming up on various sites which are related to things I've been looking up.

I have just been onto tesco to look at the spaceport tickets. Am i right in thinking that if i exchange a £5 clubcard voucher I get £15 of admission (so £15 off £20 family admission)?

Ive just exchanged vouchers for the blue planet then read your post as I still have some left. Been saving them since last year.

Bought a printer yesterday our first one in many years and used some vouchers from doing surveys - have printed out lots of coupons from the board.

    Hi

I presume I would get £15 off for my visit there. Its me, BF and DD so a family ticket no good and you dont get change so didnt want to waste any vouchers. Im sure they take the £15 off the total. Blue Planet is so expensive without vouchers and take your own food as the food there is nasty and mega expensive. God help you with the shop as you go through it to the play park and I always get conned by DD :rotfl:

Popped some choc chip cookies in the oven and thougt I'd have a quick surf on MSE while they were doing. I now have charred choc chip cookies - I get so caught up in this thread.

Waste not want not though - charred or otherwise we will be eating them. Unless any of you have a better idea for overdone cookies??:D

Edit - they're not charred. they are burnt. Burnt chocolate is vile - yeeugh - they will be tomorrow's bird food!

Thanks Grandma for your advice. we dont actually have any window sills. but someone might find your tip useful. Thanks for posting

Fuddled I find any mention of aldi and lidl baffling as whenever I look in them they seem a lot more expensive than mr t and mr s, the veg always looks ropy and the meat always looks grey..

Reverbe, could you push a table up against the window? Or fix a shelf just below it?

Another tip if anyone wants to grow 'microgreens' (to give them their trendy name!) is to use a mirror behind them (or foil covered cardboard) to reflect the light onto them - it helps to stop them leaning towards the window and ending up horizontal.

Well I went to Tesco today with mum. Bargains were fleece throws for £1.25 and they are nice quality. Plain in teal, purple, brown and cream. Got a hanging basket for £5 (ummed and errred over this extravagance). I also got a till spit for £6 off a £40 spend but I wont use it in time so passed it to Mum who spent £93!!! and that is for 2 of them and not including the dog who is on a special diet. I got her 5p off fuel voucher so both happy (she doesnt drive).

Price wise though I found a lot of things have gone up. Value self raise flour is now 80p (got mine in Lidl for 52p), milk roll bread (for DD) goes up and down by the day, no value jelly, value noodles up 2p. Had to really watch what I bought.

By shopping in Lidl, Tesco and Poundland I have saved about £5 off my shopping.

Lovely BF went to his local Co Op and got 2 tubs of whoopsie cherries for 60p each from £3!! Im so happy lol, he knows I love cherries. I was so sad today when I realised I couldnt afford any and had to get to get grapes instead and they werent cheap either. The perfect man, Whoopsie King :A

I didn't know how to reach them on a Mac, but it was really easy. Safari> Reset Safari. Once you get the menu, select all the things you would like to reset and click the Reset button. The only drawback is that I will now have to re-enter my details on sites like MSE which save my details. You have to be careful because the default option ticks all the boxes and the operation cannot be reversed once you hit the Reset button

Apparently on Firefox you can teach it to only accept cookies from sites you nominate yourself, which is better still. (Firefox>Preferences>Privacy>Untick the Accept Cookies box and click on the Exceptions button to enter the sites you will accept cookies from.)

    Let's hope this works.

I've been following for a while & thought I'd pop in & say hello at last...DH & I are trying to tighten the belts (income drop ahead when his DD leaves to go to Uni & the child benefit & CSA money stop) & I'm trying to put some of your great OS tips in place...have been doing the odd bit of batch cooking/freezing etc (taken my eye off the ball the last cpl of weeks tho after having a miscarriage which has been somewhat distracting)...but not all attempts have been sucessful thus far as it's tough to get the other 2 fully on-board (esp step-D) but I'll keep chipping away :o

However we've had a good wombling week :j...DH acquired 2 pre-used but perfectly sound 6ft fence panels & 3 posts when the neighbours were having a section of fencing re-routed at the w/end just by asking the fencing contractor if they were going to be skipped. DH likes to keep a couple of spares in the garage in case of storm damage or simple age related decay so that's saved a mint!

Plus DH's workmate offered him a mobile handset yesterday...no good for DH as wrong network but it's my network & I could do with a new handset to tide me over until I sort my new contract...I offered cash but it was refused...free to a good home...yay :j

I'm having a go at some minor produce growing this year...got a small batch of charlotte spuds on the go in one of those potato grow bag jobbies...plus got some pepper plants on the go...not entirely sure they're going to be a grand sucess tho but we'll see...also doing cut-&-come-again salad leaves & radish...going to get some tomato plants at the w/end too.

I have planted 18 baby sweetcorn plants, 2 cucumbers and 2 pumpkins on my allotment tonight. I feel much better - being cooped up for weeks because of the rain brings on cabin fever (I really hate winter for that reason).

One of my dogs has a little lump on his eyelid :( I will be monitoring it but I am terrified that it is something serious, both because he is my baby boy, and because of the vet's fees if it is. Mavis Hen ate rather a lot of my vet budget before she had to be put to sleep. I am due to go and see the vet tomorrow to have a talk with him about the idea of doing a blood titre for antibodies instead of having a booster vaccination for the dogs every year. I know this isn't going to be any cheaper but it might be better for the dogs' health. I will still be taking poochies for an annual MOT, though - now that they are 12 and 13 it is really important to keep on top of any lumps, bumps or anything else they might get.

Will be going to the charity shops tomorrow to try and find some heavy curtains ready for winter. There are a couple of other items on my hit list (like a wine press, so I can try to make herbal remedies, but they are soooooo expensive!) - although I doubt I'll find them, you never know your luck until you try!
