Hi
Was wondering if anyone had any advice for our situation:
We've bought a new flat and the boiler in our new place looks to have an intermittent problem – the domestic hot water light keeps flashing and the pilot light has failed to come on once in the 3 weeks we've been in the flat (fine otherwise).
The gas/electricity is supplied by British Gas (although we've yet to receive any new customer documents through the post).
• Should we take out British Gas's boiler cover that will fix our fault for £99 and then cost £20/month for 12 months after that?
Any other ideas for this situation?
Ideally I'd like to get the boiler serviced by a professional then get on a cheaper maintenance contract.
Also, what is the best thing to do in a new property - stick on the standard tariff for 3 months then switch?
Thanks
G

Have you contacted the supplier to let them know you have taken over the supply, and to give them your initial meter reads and arrange your contract? They won't send you documents otherwise
Scottish Gas also do a 3 tier fixed price boiler repair without contract.

You aren't covered for pre-existng faults. Get an independent local RGI in to repair and service it, boiler cover is a waste of money. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
