How Will My Credit Rating Be Effected? can I still get Credit?

Ok, I applied for a credit card with my bank, I have a good credit score and all lending with my bank. I was thoroughly confident I would get it, however an employee logged into my system and made a hash of my address and did not rectify it.

I got declined due to a "low credit score" as they had credit checked me at this totally wrong and different address!!, of course I would not have a high score at an address I dont live at!! the branch were bemused as to how the address got changed, if you could see it, it is 2 addresses mangled into 1, my business address and street address, basically 2+2 = 5.

Experian are investigating it, the branch havent a clue how it happened as even if you wanted to changed address you need to provide proof.

Regardless of any human error/ system error I now have a linked address on my credit file!!

Experian are investigating it and that could take a while!

However Im going for vehicle finance and a business credit card, how is this linked address going to effect me,

EG,

I put my home address, 123 Greent Street and lived their 2 years, have a full credit history there, electoral roll etc.. however a linked address and a credit search made at 124 Green Street was made.

Will the potential lender flag this up, can I get a CIFAS for lying about addresses yet I have nothing to do with the address searched as a result of system error.

I havent slept all weekend please any advice.

I am in the UK and have Credit Expert and am constantly logged in. So I know how to check my credit file.

Any advice many thanks!!

With regard to a potential lender loading a CIFAS against you for the linked address - they can't load anything because you don't have any credit at the address, essentially you're not hiding anything.

As for the linked address, you've done the right thing by contacting Experian. It sounds like the bank has no idea what is going on, bear in mind that the credit card application would probably have been keyed at a centre halfway across the country and not in your branch - so the people in the branch won't really know what goes on in other departments of the bank. IF the bank won't sort out the address link they've created, you can raise a formal dispute via Experian and they'll go straight to the right person at the bank who's capable of getting things sorted out.

If someone declines you for vehicle finance or a business credit card because of one linked address created by a single search, they're REALLY harsh
