Start of my downshift from full time to part time work

Must ensure I keep writing things down for my own peace of mind. Nearly the end of current working week and have had a busy time home wise too but all in hand - mostly. Weather a pain as washing building up due to dampness and mistiness. Just want a bit of breeze for once!
Food wise we are still doing well. Only did a partial shop to last til payday and keeping to our meat, poultry, fish, veggie strategy. Made a huge pan of ratatouille yesterday when I got home from work and ate some with our fish last night and rest will become veggie lasagne tonight. Got 2 chickens to roast at Mr S for £10 and roasted one on Sunday and will roast other tonight after work then use for curry Weds and sandwich filling with remainder.
Got rid of couple more bits via Freecycle and also to charity bins but was disappointed that the supermarket charity bins were overflowing and people had left stuff outside of them as no room to put in. I rang the helpline number to tell them of the situation - had to leave an answer phone message though. Hope they pick it up soon.
Still tons of stuff to go through but will do more when off work again.0 -
Read your opening posts and much of the thread with interest, I am now a SAHM and try to think positively about the financial contribution I make towards the household (I know I make a very positive and important contribution in other ways)! OK, so I don't bring cash in as such but a penny saved is a penny earned and being at home certainly saves a lot of pennies... I am always shopping around and using vouchers, doing lovely HM stews and casseroles with whoopsie veg and have the time to save money on other things too - holidays and insurance for example. I also love having nice free clear weekends with DH - when we go out and blow all the money I've saved that week on ice creams at the park and Sea Life Centre entry fees!!:o
Next year hoping to get out in the garden more, with the wet weather we've had and a babe-in-arms it wasn't possible - next Spring DD will love splashing in her wellies while I plant up the raised beds etc.
Please do carry on posting - even if what you achieve in a day is more than I manage in a week :rotfl:0
