The big names like Oxo and Bisto use MSG (E621) I avoid these for that reason.

I've loved Bisto for years, but months ago I bought a big tub of Goldenfry, because it was on offer.

It was OK, not as good as Bisto, but acceptable so I used it.

A couple of weeks ago it ran out and I replaced it with a tub of Bisto, just the normal stuff in the red tub. And it's just not the same, it tastes different, not as good as I remember it.

When I made, and tasted it my first thought was "that's not Bisto", I even got the tub back out of the cupboard and had a good look at it. Thinking I'd picked up a "look alike" by mistake. But I hadn't, it was definitely a tub of Bisto, that didn't taste like Bisto.

I bought a jar of Bisto chicken and Bisto onion gravy (BOGOF), I make a gravy using a spoon full of each, and just as the previous poster said, use the water from the vegetables and the meat juices to dilute, it's delicious.

    Tesco's own label for us.

I've tried all the other main ones, Bisto, Oxo, Morrisons, Sainsbury's but it's 'not nice' according to my family unless I use Tesco's. (Not the value by the way.)

With a joint, I just pour the juices into a jug, fill to about 3/4 with boiling water & stir in the gravy granules until it's thick enough. I also put half an onion under my joint as it cooks & find this adds to the flavour too.

PS. My Mum has been trying to extract my secret gravy recipe from me for years, as it's so much better than hers. Haha..I've never admitted it's instant.;)

We have been using Aldi's Quixo gravy granuals now for a while - well worth a try.
Normally we buy a few tubs at a time as we don't shop that much in Aldi (usually when there is a good veg offer on).
