How do I condense this please?

Hi, This is quite urgent! A document I have been working on today is too big to send by email! I know the basics about working on a computer but not a lot more and would like to know how to make the document small enough to go through email. Please can someone help me! I tried downloading winzip but the person the other end couldn't work it out, so I wanna try PDF But when I try the word document at the top says 'not responding' Please help!! The document is : 32,786kb

  • is it full of pictures? If so, can you reduce the resolution?

there is nothing complicated about winzip, create a new archive, add the file, email the zip file.. if the person at the other end has XP, when they save the attachment to the hard disk, they just click on it, and your file will be there.

The alternative is to upload to a website, or use a filesplitter.

if it is in a not responding state, it could be corrupt btw.

Thank you.......what is this and what would the person need to do the other end to receive it?

  • The filesplitter just does at the name suggests, splits it up into chunks. Zipping is easier..

also see the end of the thread, there are loads of links to free upload sites

  • does she have XP, if not, get her to download https://www.winzip.com and save the attachment, and open it in winzip.

    Hi angelcake

If your friend doesn't have Winzip installed then it's probably best to make the zipped file self-extracting.
It's a different version of Winzip for you to download here:-

You need to find out what the size is when zipped. If it's still >10MB or so then it's a no no.

You could convert it to a pdf file with PrimoPdf..then there is an option in OE to break files apart if too large to send in one hit..Tools/accounts/Propertis/Advanced..tick Sending and specify the size .
