What's the catch?

My contract with O2 is coming to an end and I need broadband for the flat I'm moving into so Orange seemed like the best solution.

Currently, they're offering £100 cash back on your old mobile (and I've got LOTS of these) until the end of the month and then free broadband so I was about to sign up BUT then I saw the clearance deals carphone warehouse are offering.

What's the catch? Why would anyone give you a phone and then subsidise your contract so that you only pay 99p a month? Surely it's not good business???

It's not the ideal phone or tarrif, but at that price it'll do! It works out at £70 for the whole year and I could probably get most of that back by ebaying the phone.

Things that sound too good to be true usually are, so what's the deal?

Cheers!

If it is a cashback deal there is no catch and there are even better deals around offering you 12 months free phone and free line rental, AFTER youv made your cashback claim. however the catch is that the companies make it hard for you to claim what you are owed and you need to be prepared to spend time reading the t and c's and chasing them up..but still is worth it!
  • To get the free Broadband from Orange, you need an 18 month contract of at least £30 a month( my daughter needs a new phone and broadband!).Best I have seen for her is going to average out at £7.28 a month, which is lower than £14.99 for Orange Broadband. But I don't rate the phone's chances of lasting 18 months! We are considering going with TalkTalk and being free to look for a free deal on the mobile.
