I've just made a big quiche to slice and freeze for packups (don't know why i never thought of this before!) .. my question is will a decent size slice of quiche taken out in the morning (7.30-8am ish) defrost for lunchtime? (12-1)? And does it still taste the same after freezing?0

Hi lightisfading,
Yes, if you lift the slice of quiche out in the morning it should be defrosted by lunchtime. I never enjoy pastry taken out of the freezer unless it's 'crisped up' in the oven but my kids don't mind it and often take leftover quiche for lunch.
There's an earlier thread on freezing/defrosting quiche so I'll add your thread to it.

Sorry if this has been posted before, I did have a look but couldn't see it.
I would like to freeze homemade quiche but Im not sure if I freeze it cooked or uncooked, I know someone out there will have the answer for me:DLove a charity shop bargain0 -
I've always frozen mine cooked, only because I hadn't thought about doing it NOT cooked
Although thinking about it now, wouldn't the egg mixture make the pastry soggy when it's being defrosted?

ditto to the above post - never thought about doing it raw before! ThoughIagree that it'd be likely to go soggy as it defrosted.0

Have to be cooked - imagine the mess if it tips over in the freezer before it's frozen _pale_
