My Neighbours Mortgage details??

Sorry if this sounds a strange question, but I would like to know if any of you know if there is any way of finding out who my neighbour has a mortgage with!?

(he doesn't live there - it's rented at the moment - people living there won' t co-operate. I live in the 1st floor flat of a 4 flat property - leasehold.)

I know that he has been in financial difficulty in the past and I believe that he is struggling with his mortgage. He has never paid buildings insurance or anything in all the time I've been in my flat, and I would like to go straight to his mortgage company to have a chat with them about it.

Thanks for any help - its a long shot ;)

  • If you know the address of the property you can find out from the land registry. It costs £3 if you do it on line. I am not sure if it costs any more if you do it by post. I have used this facility for houses but I guess it also works for flats.

how do you know hes not paid buildings insurance?

i thought you have to have buildings insurance to let the place out- I would have thought a pre-requisite of the letting agent?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

The mortgage company will not chat to you about someone elses mortgage, dont mean to be rude, but why does it concern you?

So you suspect he may be struggling with his loan because he has done so in the past! Therefore, you want to get to the mortgage lender and talk to them about a property you may suspect be repossesed in the near future. You also suspect he hasn't got building insurance and from that your original inference comes tha he may be having a hard time!

You need to concentrate on your own life mate. I'm not surprised the tentants wouldn't play ball, I know I wouldn't around someone asking questions like a nosy parker.

surely the mortgage company wouldnt be able to discuss that persons details with anyone else anyway....data protection...
  • Nope .....his lender will not speak to you without him being present or written permission (ps i work for a bank)
  • Thanks for all yr replies everyone. The reason I want to talk to his mortgage company is because he has never paid buildings insurance (the other 3 tenants who manage the freehold including myself pay his share every year!)

I've had a leak from his bathroom for the last year and he refuses to fix it! The Tenants he has there at the moment are drug dealers. I could go on but I won't so Basically, myself and the other tenants want him out! So, Sheraz2 before you start to get all uppity ;-) have a little more insight and don't presume that everyone is a nosey a**hole just for the sake of it.

    Thanks
    Phil

If he's not paying his insurance, I wouls think you could take him to the small claims court.

I have sympathy, mate, but do it by the book.
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.
