I'm assuming you mean 4 years' funding altogether? If you do a 3 year degree you can have funding for 3 years plus one (which is the one you're on at the moment) so you should be fine with the funding.

I meant 4 years altogether, sorry, I wasn't very clear.

I have just been reading about the funding thing, and am confused. Is it just the loans you can get for 3 + 1 years or can you get grants as well? Would i have to pay back the grants I got this year if I quit the course I am on currently? What about the university bursary? It is starting to look like I'm stuck here :/

You get full loans and full grants for the years.

But if you then drop out again (and have used some or all of your SF allowance) then you will be able to get maintenance loans, but not grants nor tuition fee loan.

The 3+1 rule applies to fee loans, maintenance loans and grants. You don't pay anything back until you're earning £15,000 but it can be more complicated if you drop out part way through a year, so best to finish the year you're on at the moment.

well, just an update. After having a chat with a tutor from the Uni as well as one of my tutors at college. I decided to go for the Mental Health nursing as that was what I wanted to do originally (when I was in my teens and a few years ago!). I have applied through UCAS and my current tutor has given me a reference. And now we wait...

I really want this job in as much as it's what I've wanted to do for a number of years and I have now had enough experience in the field to know it's what I really want.
I have tried imagining myself in various different jobs/careers but I keep coming back to this as it's the only one that 'sits' right with me. I have spent a long time trying to talk myself out of it but it keeps coming back. Also, I have noticed that friends and colleagues have been more positive about my applying for the MH nursing than the Social Work.
There is as much chance of me getting a job in this field as any other, things are uncertain at the moment on the NHS front but there was a vacancy advertised locally 2 weeks ago which is encouraging as there are very few job vacancies full stop round here at the moment.

I have an interview on June 23rd :)

Still none the wiser about the financial side of things, though, which is bothering me somewhat. I suppose all I can do is go for it then deal with the fallout if I am lucky enough to get an offer.

Nursing is one of the NHS sponsored degrees for which you get funding, even if you're already a graduate.

    Good luck with the interview!
