Which would You Try to Make a Claim For If any?

My employers recently made me redundant. I worked in the public sector but was not particularly well paid. I was chosen for redundancy on the findings of a panel of 3 on a skills form I completed. Based on that they found me incompetent to do the job I applied for which was a grade below what I was earning. However, all my appraisals said I was an exceptional worker and the last one clearly stated I was more than able to do the job. I was told the job I am doing was gone but it has been given to someone else with a different title.
I am aged 60 and I was the only admin person made redundant. The others in a different department who were made redundant were aged 63 and 58. I am thinking of trying to make a claim for unfair dismissal based on age discrimination.
However, a few weeks ago I went to the photocopying room to collect some work and fell over. The reason I fell over was that the photocopier repair man was spraying oil on the photocopier and it got on the floor and he then tried to clean it. There was no sign up and the floor was like an ice rink. I bashed my head and my arm. I was pretty shaken up but stayed at work.
The following day was Saturday and I noticed a swelling on my wrist. I expected it to go down but by Monday it was still there so they let me go from work to the hospital. I had an xray and they told me no bones were broken and the swelling was a soft tissue injury which would go down in a few days.
That was a few weeks ago and I still have the swelling. I have a weakness in my wrist and cannot open tins, jars, whisk food or do heavy cleaning as it starts hurting. The bursar at work told me to make a claim but my husband says its too late to do that.
Everyone at work says an injustice has been done to me and it has; I have been treated very shabbily. I feel so angry that i want to take revenge on them in the only way I can think of by making a claim against them.
So which would you claim for if any? Which would I be most likely to be successful at? I have now left having worked out my notice and could do with some money anyway. I havent had any redundancy pay yet.

If you are in the union your first call is to go to them for advice. If you are not in the union try to find a solicitor who will do a half hour free initial session with you and if there is a case against your employer that they will take it on a no win no fee basis.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0

These are two separate issues.
On the accident, the school seems to have acted correctly and the bursar has advised you to make a claim. If you choose to ignore that and listen to your husband instead, that's your look out. So I don't understand why you are cross about that.
On the redundancy -
"I am aged 60 and I was the only admin person made redundant. The others in a different department who were made redundant were aged 63 and 58." So one person who wasn't made redundant is older than you, and one person who wasn't made redundant is younger than you. How can this possibly be age discrimination then?Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.
Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -

I don't understand what you mean? I was pointing out that the 3 oldest people have been made redundant and the youngest have kept their jobs. To me that looks like age discrimination.
I don't understand either why you are attacking me. Yes I am angry but not because of the accident. I am angry with the unfair way I have lost my job. There is a lot more to it but I did not want to waffle on with all the details. I don't choose to ignore the bursar and listen to my husband. I was asking for advice.
If the school had acted correctly in the first place with regard to Health and Safety then I wouldn't have this great lump on my wrist and difficulty with cooking/cleaning that involves pressure. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
You were told to make a claim, and you didn't. Get over it. You were made redundant because others are better equipped and have more skills than you. Get over it.
You want to make a claim for revenge for crying out loud. Good god.0
