Hello
On the 16th April I will be in preparing for the London Marathon by travelling to Hornchurch to stay with family.
I have to go to Excel to register on the 16th and get to the start of the Marathon on the 17th.

My family...husband, brother, sister and four children ( 8,7,6 and 4) will be coming in a little later and are hoping to catch a glimpse of me at mile 8, 18 and near the end( or there abouts).

My question for you all is what is the best way to buy travel...in my day it was the one day travel card but I haven't lived in London for twenty years! I believe I can get free travel for myself on the docklands railway.

Any other tips or advice would be well received!!

One-day Travelcards are what you're after - the off-peak zones 1-6 version (which is what you need) now costs £8.00. Children under 11 travel free on the Underground and DLR if accompanied by an adult (they also travel free on buses), see:

    Good luck!
