Claim through faulty party insurer

Yesterday evening i was involved in a road traffic accident. The faulty party has accepted all responsibility and I also have a witness to the accident.
I was taken by ambulance along with my partner to hospital where we have both been diagnosed with whiplash. The police officer who accompanied us at the accident scene and to the hospital has advised me to make the claim through the faulty parties insurer and to leave my insurer out of the loop in order to avoid any premium hikes (I am already paying £5500 per year).
I have only been driving for 6 months and have no experience in what to do in this situation. Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed with a claim?
I have photographic evidence of all damaged caused by the accident along with my witness details, the time and date of the incident and names of all people involved.

You probably need to consider instructing a PI solicitor to act for you.
There are some who will give you a commission for instructing them - google cashback injury solicitors.0 -
you are aware that its a t&c of insurance that you must notify them of any accident0

I think you should contact the insurance company as soon as possible so that company can evaluate the damage caused by the accident. You should also tell you insurance company about the person responsible for the accident, then you will get the whole claimed money for the car.0

If you follow this advice, then your insurer will take it you are making a claim. (As soon as they spend any money "evaluating the damage", then they are involved!)
All you need to do is inform your insurer of the incident, stressing to them that you are telling them for information only and do not wish to claim.
Then carry on with your claim directly against the third party.0 -
Go with what Quentin has said, I suspect Barstaple is one of the random yanks we see periodically, they scatter a few non-useful platitudes about and then either disappear never to be seen again or come back as spammers0
