thank you so much - will call the gas company tomorrow. x :beer:0

Don't let them simply replace it with a new one. You need to make sure that the old meter is sent of for an OFMAT test otherwise there will be no definitive proof that it was faulty.thank you so much - will call the gas company tomorrow. x
They may ask you to pay for the test, although based on the information you've given on here the meter is clearly faulty so it would seem unlikely to me.
There aren't any zeros in front of your readings are there? What does your meter look like as most metric gas meters I've seen have eight digits like this one, not seven like you've said

Mine has seven, just two red digits like the OP has.stewie_griffin wrote: »What does your meter look like as most metric gas meters I've seen have eight digits like this one, not seven like you've said0 -
You need to do 2 things, read and record meter readings twice a day and also note the switch on/off times of the timer settings for your boiler. When you phone your supplier they will ask you to do something like this and call them back in a few days. If you are still with BG this will help if there are any issued related to the boiler.in october 2010 my meter reading was 11833.
last night my meter reading was 29812.
the house is over 100yrs old. I don't know if the meter is faulty or if i really am using that much??
You last non-estmiate reading was 6 months ago, what about the bill in between? Was the estimate 'accurate' (close to actual reading)? If so what was that reading and when?IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

thank you for the picture - really made me smile

I am with Atlantic, and emailed them last night.
They emailed me back this morning asking for some details etc etc, so will now see what they have said.
thanks to the person who said that it should be more than just replaced, but tested also - i will do that.:)
as for the boiler - i may have to ask BG to have a look at it, so will also bear that in mind.
thanks to all for help x0 -
Is the meter serial number on your previous bill correct? maybe the bill has been based upon the wrong meter?0
