Need to raise 500 fast

Hi,

We need to make 1k within 3/4 months for a holiday. Our income is being used to pay off debts, so we are literally unable to save for a holiday, so I wondered whether there is any other "outside of work" things that I could do to raise a bit of extra cash.

I do carboot sales occasionally, but seem to raise barely a thing - I've joined some survey sites and will now be purchasing only through a cash back site, but is there anything else I can do???

Well surely it would it be better any money raised to pay your debts off first before contemplating any luxuries

    Part of the Furniture
Sell unwanted things. Surveys and cashback will take time for you to actually receive any money.
  • 1K for a holiday while youve got debts? if you must go on holiday, Id go for something much simpler, which isnt necesserally less relaxing. Try camping, or a house swap? if you can raise 1k in 3 months, get rid of the debts & relax in that knowledge

    This is rather opinionated.

My parents are abroad, I only see them once a year, so it's not entirely a luxury - infact a necessity.

Of course its opinionated but most people pay debts off before having a luxury, I based that on your own post you stated its for a holiday not for visiting perhaps you should have made that clear in 1st post :)

ie We need to make 1k within 3/4 months so we can visit our parents away

Couldn't your parents help you or visit you instead?

That's not a holiday then. If you had started by saying I need £500 to £1000 to pay for an airfare to see my parents who live overseas who I haven't seen for ages then we'd be much more sympathetic.

It is always better to go on holiday using savings rather than borrowing so NeverInDebt's opinion is correct. And anyway it is an opinion this is an internet forum.

If you need money fast then do more work. Another part time job maybe?

    Edit: SNAP...
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Sorry, my mistake for not making myself clear - but to us it is a holiday, we look forward to it, it's a kill two birds with one stone scenario.

I am looking into getting another part time job, but I work everyday as it is, and trying to find something where I'm not going to need more childcare is going to be tricky. I have looked at evening work, but there's very few jobs I can find to start after 8pm and that's what I would need to fit in with my situ.

Can you not get a part time job as said? surveys pay very little and usually take ages to pay up

    cross post with OP's

Flights are usually 600 :( I have allowed 600 for flights and 400 towards food when we are over there. Obviously if I found flights for 400, I would only need 800 - but I think it's best to aim high, than to aim low and be disappointed if we can't go.
