Best place to buy shares within ISA?

Hi All,
From April 6th onwards, will put around 5.3k in cash isa and rest in shares isa. Would like to buy some shares within the isa this year, well just one company. 5k worth. I understand this is risky, but I don't mind taking some risk. Whats best website for buying such shares? I read that h&l isnt the best for this

regards

I asked this question a while ago. TD Waterhouse or iii seem to be the best.

If you have the money and haven't already used your ISA allowances for this tax year, you should in the next 2 days. You can then use your new ISA allowance from 6th April.

Do you have any other share based investments at all? If not then it would be worth considering funds rather than a single share. Imagine if your entire savings were in RBS or Lloyds shares after what has happened.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

No share based investments no. I do have a large amount in instant access savings and last years stocks&shares allowance in a super tracker. I really would like to try shares myself, I've had a fantasy portfolio for past few months which has done okay, so I will try this 5k on shares. It would be a risk, but a risk I can probably afford to take

III is fine or if you bank with HSBC or First Direct try their sharedealing service - as they come with no annual fees.

I think you might have asked about HSBC Premier in the past - holding shares in a self select ISA with HSBC counts towards their savings qualification criteria fwiw

HSBC/First Direct also pay a (small) amount of interest on uninvested money - sadly III don't.

If you're not in any kind of rush to fill in for this tax year, SVS sent me an email saying they would have a S&S ISA account for the new tax year. I'm holding out to see what they have to offer before I commit.

But from my current knowledge of the ISAs available, I'd say TDW (No annual fee for accounts holding £5,100 or more) and charge of somewhere between £8-£9 per deal. I've heard X-O charge £5.95 per deal with no annual fees either.

I would also suggest you have a look at Alliance Trust Savings - they have a very good online service, although they have a £25 fee for their ISA - it does come with 2 "free" trades (worth £25) so you are paying nothing. You can open the account online from their website.
