You can buy a cheap satellite finder to align your dish to, remember that the satellite is in space over the equator so alignment needs to be precise.

That's relatively expensive at £14.99... the metered satellite finders start at £6 on ebay, including patch lead and UK delivery.

if you get freeview now, then after the digital switchover, you will still have it. You might not get some of the more exotic freeview channels using your existing aerial. A wideband aerial is sometimes needed to get the full lineup for freeview channels. There is a really good website run by a freeview enthusiast which tells you exactly what you will or won't get..

BTW make sure you get a "patch lead" included with the satellite finder ... that's the lead that connects the LNB on the dish to the meter.

The Digibox signal meter updates quite slowly so using it for aligning a dish would be very difficult.

Using a meter to find a strong signal and then check that the digibox is locking onto the correct satellite as there are lots up there. Then make adjustments for the strongest signal. The LNB might need adjusting too as that can be rotated if a screw is loosened and that affects the Vertical and Horizontal polarisation and signal strengths. Both should be checked if that is altered to make sure that both H & V have similar signal strengths. Find a transponder which has both H & V polarisations for the same frequency if you can.

Have a look for these frequencies in both H & V polarisations. These are approximate, they might show as +-1 or might not be receivable on a Sky digibox. I don't have a Sky digibox connected ATM, I never plug it in, so don't know what is receivable without a card.
These are from my PC Sat card.

Enter your postcode and select 28.2e satellite and this will show the direction and maybe let you set a landmark (tree, rooftop or other) to help direct the dish in the right direction.

As mentioned above, using the Sky digibox's built in signal meter is tricky as it's slow to respond as you SLOWLY move the dish.... but I've done it on numerous occasions and it can be done BUT it can also take forever to locate so have patience!
