Renewal car insurance.,

We are currently with Tesco and they sent us a renewal and the price was £312. I spoke to them and they got the price down to £286.00.

However I have been on confused.com site and they given them all my details and Tesco are coming up the cheapest on their site. The price is
£263.00 and gave me the option to buy now.

My question is would I be able to do this as I am already with Tesco.

They are closed other i would be asking them.

Thanks,

Got my answer and would like to share it with you. Nah!
  • I had a similar experience with BISL who were always cheapest for online renewals. Then they must have realised what was happening and closed the loophole.

on the compare sites you are treated as a "new customer" so you would get a discount not available to "renewing" customers

just in case some regulars didn't know...lol......:rotfl:

I'd guess if you ask them that would be the answer, but equally I can’t see any reason why you do don’t instruct them not to renew, let the policy lapse and take out a new policy at the lower price.

That's basically what i did with mine this year and the price came down from £365 renewal to £250 new policy

I recently renewed my car insurance. I was with morethan, who gave me a renewal quote of £262.24, so I went on the compare sites and the cheapest they came up with was £218.19, with morethan, so I bought that policy and just didn't renew the other policy, as there's no way I'm paying more for being loyal, and as it's the same company I've got the same policy for less.

I intend to do the same when I renew my AA membership too, as I'll be saving about £100 by going as a new customer.

When in doubt, don't renew, just let the policy expire and dont drive the car or have it on a road for one day, then reapply and enjoy the discount awarded to a brand new customer, which you now will be.

or even set up the new policy so that it starts when the old one lapses
