If you rub a couple of ice cubes on the flattened bit and then brush up as it dries that should get rid of them.0

Failing that, try using a steam iron held just above the carpet. This works well particularly on carpets with wool content0

Brush up with an upright Vacuum cleaner, (rotating brush) Even better
The underlay should recover in time.I am not a cat (But my friend is)0
