Take a handful of coins with you when you go to the supermarket for a few groceries (go at a quiet time), feed as much as you can into the self service machines until someone's waiting in the queue behind you. Then pay the rest by notes/ card.
I know HSBC have free coin counting machines, but you need to have an account with them, and I think they're only on the mainland.
Some corner shops are happy to have payment in coins, as it costs them to get change from the bank for their float.
Other than that, take them to your bank bagged up, but if you need to pay for petrol/ bus fares to make several trips to the bank to deposit them, you may be better off using the coinstar machines at the supermarket. Depends if you're better off paying 8.9% commission and getting an instant lump sum, or getting rid of them in dribs and drabs.Competition wins: 09/12 bottle of cognac; 01/13 combi microwave0 -
I think there is one in Emersons but it might charge you to use it. .0
