I am looking for a property to rent and the choice is awful on RM at the moment, the worse ive seen it in months!

Is there anywhere to look for private rentals? Or any other good websites I am missing, I know some others but they are all repeated from RM anyway.

Also how long is it usually from agreeing to let the property to moving in? What are the costs involved these days? Its been over 5 years since we have rented and I am sure it will be more expersive now!

Thanks

I must admit I'd never even thought to look on rightmove or large websites for rental property; I always just look in the local area. We've either found properties by personal recommendation (being referred by people who's tenancy is ending), looking in the local press or finding a list of letting agents in the local area and going straight to them.

Do you have a local online resource for this sort of thing? In Oxford we have www.dailyinfo.co.uk for example, which is sort of an on-line local paper that has a property and lettings listings in it too. There is a huge rental market here though because the city is essentially populated by students and people on short contracts, but you might have something similar in your area on-line.
